LOKEY'S T

Before George got the car, it started as a husband and wife project, Don and Millie Lokey. They brought it to Barris Kustom to have a complete koach built, redesigned hot rod to win the National Roadster Award. It already had a tube chassis, early model Ford front and rear end, 57 Corvette engine and Lincoln transmission. All full suspension and frame was chrome plated. Barris sculptured finn styled pick up bed and taillights. Grille sheel housed an all brass 1915 Model T radiator, with molded headlights and chrome louvers on top. A matching air scoop was made to fit the multi carbs and outside header and exhausts. Wheels are Astro, with Mickey Thompson tires with tri-pod knock offs. Brass lanterns are mounted on the windshield posts. Top is unique styled with port holes on right and left sides, with a Big T back window stitched into the white vinyl panel... Interior is in red velvet and white pearl naugahyde with gold buttons and huge rolls. The final color was thirtyfive coats of translucent Kandy red lacquer color blended into white pearl of essence, then hand rubbed to a high luster. The complete underbody and inner panels were also painted and upholstered the same as the viable top side. Dash was chrome plated with Stewart Warner dials.
